Process Innovation Boosts Outlook for Silicon Parts Market
San Diego, CA, October 7, 2025: TECHCET — the electronic materials advisory firm providing semiconductor materials supply chain information— reports the global silicon parts market is set to increase 3% year-over-year to reach US$787 million. Following a slight decline in 2024 as fabs slowed expansions, demand is rebounding in line with rising wafer starts and improved fab utilization. Over the longer term, the market is projected to expand at a 4% CAGR from 2024 to 2029, supported by ongoing investments in semiconductor manufacturing and consumables demand according to TECHCET’s 2025-2026 Critical Materials Report™ on Silicon Parts.

Silicon components remain a mainstay in wafer fabrication due to their cost-effectiveness, proven performance, and widespread availability, particularly across 200mm and 300mm applications. While wafer fab equipment revenues are projected to grow almost 8% in 2025 to US$132 billion the corresponding demand for silicon parts will follow in 2026 as new tools enter full production and consumables usage intensifies.
As fabs advance to smaller geometries (7nm, 5nm, 3nm, and beyond), aggressive chemistries in etch and CVD processes are driving higher parts wear and contamination risks. Although hybrid designs (e.g., Si+SiC or Si+Al₂O₃) and protective coatings are emerging to extend part lifetimes, no breakthrough technology has yet displaced silicon at scale. Future growth will hinge on chip demand recovery, continued wafer fab expansions, and material innovations to meet the needs of next-generation semiconductor nodes.
